This July our Zoo is celebrating 90 ROAR-some years!

1st July - 31st July
It's time to celebrate as this year marks our Zoo's 90th birthday! It's been quite a journey since first being opened in 1931 by Sir Reginald Goddard, having endured the second world war, been home to a Circus and being transformed into the theme park that we see today.

During the month of July, we're putting on some extra celebrations here at Chessington World of Adventures Resort, to mark this landmark anniversary. With such a WILD history, there's so many stories to tell about animals, zoo keepers, events and buildings both past and present. We also have an exclusive exhibition running from the 26th – 31st July where you can explore our archive and find out all about our past and see how much has changed over the years.
