At Chessington, we have a successful breeding family of otters, with parents Lancelot and Mina taking charge. If you fancy learning more about our loveable otter family, why not come along to our Otter Talk.

Penguins at Chessington

Penguin Bay

Humboldt Penguins are a warm weather species that live off the coasts of Chile & Peru in South America. They are a medium build species, growing to approximately 65cm. They are very quick swimmers reaching up to 20mph in the water. Male and female Humboldt Penguins mate for life and take joint care of their offspring, taking it in turns to sit on the eggs for 40 days.

Penguin Presentations take place twice daily, and our keepers give fun, fact-filled talks.

At Sea Lion Bay we have 4 Californian Sea Lions splashing about in the water – 2 boys and 2 girls – who would love you to come over and see them.

Squirrel Monkeys at Chessington

12:15pm - Monkey Talk

AMAZU outside the Spider and Squirrel monkey enclosures

If you have cheeky monkeys, bring them along to learn about our monkeys.  After the talk our Keeper will be on hand to answer any questions.

Capybaras at Chessington

AMAZU in Chessington Zoo

Capybaras are proficient swimmers, swimming with only their nostrils, eyes, and ears above the surface. They are also known to swim underwater - sometimes for considerable distances.
