Chessington Construction Diary: PAW Patrol Edition

Construction Pup-date #1

Welcome to our very first ‘pup-date’ on the progress of our PAW Patrol themed-land which will be ruff ruff ready in 2026!

On 29th April 2025, we announced that PAW Patrol (previously known as ‘Project Play’) would be rolling into Chessington World of Adventures in 2026 – giving families the chance to join the PAW Patrol pups and help save the day in this immersive new land.

Construction work started earlier this year, as we said goodbye to the much-loved classic rollercoaster, Scorpion Express, and the Mexicana buildings surrounding it. However, we’re looking forward to having four pup-tacular new rides as part of this incredible land!

In our first construction update, we take a look at everything that’s taken place since construction started in March 2025…

March 2025:

In March we started phase one of demolition of the existing land, which included the removal of the old Scorpion Express ride bases and sections of the old petting zoo.

April 2025:

In April we started phase two of demolition, which meant crushing all the concrete that had been remove in phase one. The old Mexicana restaurant and owl houses from the petting zoo were demolished too. 

May 2025:

In May we started installing the piling mat for our brand-new ‘my first coaster’ and began the reduced dig for one of the land’s buildings and attenuation tank.

June 2025:

In June we had the ride bolts installed for the new coaster and began excavations for one of the land’s buildings foundations. We also had the crusher back on site to crush all material found in the ground during demolition.

July 2025:

In July we started on the concreting for the new coaster ride foundations and began installation of drainage throughout the site. We also started on the excavation of theming within the new coaster’s ride area.

As you can see, there’s been so much work on the site already, and in our next pup-date, we’ll share what happened on the site during August – September.

Also, today marks the start of PAW Patrol Autumn Adventure! Join us on weekdays between now and 26^th September for an activity trail and character meet and greets. We’re so excited to also welcome Marshall, as he joins the rest of his pup pals for Meet and Greets at our Mini Stage! Will you be joining us for a PAWsome day out?
