Explorer Car Park is within a green belt area, which means permanent development of these acres is strictly regulated. We have improved some fields with a hard-core surface and made improvements to the drainage systems in all areas, and we have also improved pedestrian safety. All connecting roads, tracks and pathways, inspected daily, are repaired and maintained on a continual basis.

We appreciate our surfaces can be uneven in areas as part of the natural greenbelt landscape and we advise drivers to adapt driving behaviour according to conditions.

As well as our famous Zoo and SEA LIFE centre, we have plenty of rides suitable for preschool children. For more information visit our Parent and Toddler page.

Each ride has its own height restriction ranging from 0.9m to 1.4m minimum – see the full ride listing for details.

Each ride specific store closes when the ride closes. The Chessington Shop closes approximately 30 minutes after the advertised ride closing time

Yes, adventurers can smoke at Chessington, we have designated smoking areas to ensure we provide freedom of choice whilst still respecting the fact we are a family resort. Please view the Park Map for further details.

Buggies can be hired from both Lodge and Explorer Gate Welcome areas for a cost of £6.50 for a single and £8.50 for a double.

Child safety wristbands:
Place your phone number inside a special wristband so we can contact you if your group gets separated. These bands are available from Adventurers’ Services.

Parent Swap:
Parents can still enjoy the height restricted rides when visiting with toddlers, and you only have to queue once. After swapping over the second rider gains entry via the ride exit. This service is available from Adventurers’ Services.

Unfortunately as a health & safety requirement adventurers with a full leg cast can only experience;

  • Zoo
  • SEA LIFE centre

  • Chessington Carousel (Teacup only)

Adventurers with an arm or wrist cast can experience the following rides;

In the interests of Health and Safety, all guests on rides must be fully strapped in. Similar to smaller guests being subject to height restrictions, larger Adventurers are recommended to follow this advise.

  • Rameses Revenge
  • Dragon's Fury
  • Rattlesnake
  • Vampire

Vampire, Dragon’s Fury and Rameses Revenge also have a maximum height restriction of approximately 1.95 metres.

The following rides have more generous shoulder and lap bar restraints, and are usually suitable for most adventurers:

  • Tiny Truckers
  • Tomb Blaster
  • Runaway Train
  • Black Buccaneer
  • Monkey Swinger
  • KOBRA

The following rides should be suitable for all:

  • Bubbleworks
  • Toadie's Crazy Cars
  • Safari Skyway
  • Dragon Falls
  • Carousel
  • Tuk Tuk Turmoil
  • Peeking Heights

Should you have any further queries or concerns, please feel free to contact the Adventures' Services located in Market Square. Please note we make no guarantee of the availability or suitability of these attractions.
