WHAT'S BLACK AND WHITE AND WORN ALL OVER?

Chessington World of Adventures Resort has implemented a ban on colourful clothing to make sure the resident Zoo animals get used to seeing a lot of black and white. The zero-tolerance policy has been put in place to prepare the animals for the new Pandamonium Live show, in which animatronic pandas will be making their debut.

As part of the animals' ongoing enrichment, families who attend during the upcoming Zoo Days* may be asked to don panda onesies and ears. As a result, the animals most likely to encounter the new arrivals, such as the nearby sea lions and popular presentation animals (raccoons, coati and binturong), will learn to recognise distinct panda colours.

The Zoo team are also getting into the spirit by wearing bespoke panda headgear and paws while they continue to train the animals ahead of the official park reopening on March 18th 2016 with the Pandamonium Live Show launching on park on the 25th March 2016.

Steve Davies, Operations Director at Chessington World of Adventures Resort said, "We're very excited for the arrival of our life-like animatronic pandas, they're a World first! Our guests will be able to get a sense of what it would be like to get up close and personal to a real life panda and see them in a way that no other attraction in the UK can offer. De-sensitising our animals to new sights, sounds and colours is very much a part of our on-going training with our presentation animals in particular. The colour ban will therefore go a long way in helping our resident animals to become familiarised with the new arrivals."
