Hundreds of kids and adults gathered at Chessington World of Adventures Resort to be part of the penguin pack as they attempted to break the Guinness World Record for the largest group of people dressed as penguins. Penguin history has been made this weekend as Chessington smashed the world record (XX), beating the original record of 373.
Congregating at the Africa Live stage XXX families were joined by TV personality and celebrity mum, Michelle Heaton, her daughter, Faith, and her mum, XXX, for a very special Mother's Day. Michelle helped recruit guests at the resort to take part in the world record where she was joined by the famous penguin characters from the Penguins of Madagascar Live! Operation Cheezy Dibbles show. Michelle even learnt how to Penguin Shake and led the crowd in a mass dance.
Michelle said, "Chessington World of Adventures Resort is one of our favourite places to go to spend time together as a family, so being part of setting the world record at the Year of the Penguins launch is exciting and I'm pleased to see so many families getting involved and having a good time."
The impressive world record is to help launch Year of the Penguins, celebrating the collaboration with DreamWorks' Penguins of Madagascar and the Resort’s brand new penguin enclosure. The Resort has a huge offering this year that includes a new show Penguins of Madagascar Live! Operation Cheezy Dibbles, Penguin Bay - a brand new enclosure for the arrival of their new Humboldt Penguins and a new Penguins of Madagascar Mission: Treetop Hopper ride experience.
Chessington have also collaborated with DreamWorks to create two new Penguins of Madagascar themed bedrooms in the Chessington Safari Hotel, giving guests the chance to spend the night in a treetop hideout themed bedroom, ready to start their own top secret mission!
Tim Harrison-Jones, Divisional Director for Chessington World of Adventures Resort said, "This weekend has been a real success and we are so pleased to have broken the existing world record. Launching the Year of the Penguins has been an exciting project for all of the staff here and we are keen to hear what our loyal park-goers think of the new penguin experiences here at the Resort."
